Blogs have become very popular and are replacing a lot of static websites.  Not only are they a great way to introduce your product and/or service to your market, they are also a great way to build relationships with potential prospects.  In this article I will share with you how to drive targeted traffic to your blog.

Blog commenting is overlooked as a legitimate and effective way to driving traffic to your website. Most people will just comment anywhere on any site and not concentrate on relevant sites specific to their niche. When this is done correctly, it will not only bring you more traffic but plenty of backlinks as well.

The first thing you want to do is go to Google and put in a search term that is relevant to your particular niche. Let’s say you are promoting health products so for this example we will assume your products help heal arthritis. You would want to go to the search engines and type in “heal arthritis”.

Now here is a cool tip that will really help you with this particular search.  Be sure that you have downloaded the SEOBook toolbar onto your browser.  This is a free tool and you can find it at SEOBook.com.  Just register with the site and then download your toolbar.  This tool will give you pertinent information about the sites you are on.

The next step is to choose a site from your search and then visit that particular website.  On the SEO toolbar to the right of the name will be a blue circle.  Click on that circle and you will be given information about that particular site.

You want to pay attention to the “Site Links” section, especially Yahoo. You will see a number out to the side but even if you don’t, click on it anyway and it will take you to Yahoo.

This is where you will find all of the sites that are linking to that particular site.  These are your competitors. You can do this for all the sites that show up on your search.  Just click on one of the listings and what you are looking for is a blog or website that you can post comments on. Be sure that you read the post and add a comment that is relevant to the post. You don’t want the owner to not approve it.  When you leave a comment, be sure to include your real name and the URL to your site.

If you do this to 10 or 20 sites a day that are relevant to your niche, it will build backlinks to your site as well as bring traffic to your site from people who have visited the blog post and are interested in checking out your information as well. This works very well and is a natural way to get traffic to your site. Your site will rank higher in Google when you have relevant backlinks pointing to your site.
