Geeks on Steroids

One of the questions I get asked a lot and one that I see show up in the forms is, “how long will it take for me to start showing up in the search results”?

The problem with trying to answer this question is that it varies based on the age of the site, the number of links and of course the level of competition. And those are just some of the elements to think about, there is considerably more elements to look at in order to give a full-fledged answer.

When starting with a brand new domain name, it will likely be difficult to gain the necessary trust for ranking for broad competitive terms for at least three months but this can often be closer to six to nine months. Of course if you continue to put out good content and you are fortunate enough to benefit from some good authority links you could see results a lot sooner.

When dealing with a new design the best thing to do is never give up.

Setting unrealistic expectations will only lead to disappointment.

If you are redesigning a website one of the things to look at is if the site relies on a lot of home page rankings. If this is the case then redesigning the site should not hurt. If it is a new design, on a new domain name then ranking for brand term should be immediate. For example this website is one of many currently being launched for Geeks on Steroids but we expect to be in the top 10 before the end of this week for Geeks on Steroids.

And for any news site the first goal should be ranking for brand names. From there you can go to local names and other modified long-term searches. If you give the process some time and continue working with rankings you should start seeing results within six months.
